About the Author
Rick Fisher, America's math teacher, is an math instructor for the Oak Grove School District in San Jose, California. Since graduating from San Jose State University in 1971 with a B.A. in mathematics, Rick has devoted his time to teaching fifth and sixth grade students. Each year approximately one-half of his students bypass seventh grade math and move directly to a high-powered eighth grade algebra program. Great math book

I was using a different book with my grandson, who is in 8th grade. The purpose for us was not reviewing, but mastering and catching up to his grade level. It became obvious he was stuck and frustraded, the other book kept switching around between division, fractions, decimals, etc from page to page. So, I ordered this book that works on a set of math skills in a group. Mastering each set of skills until one is confident with that, then moving on to the next. This is exactly what he needed!

My son has ADHD as well as a pretty serious math anxiety that he developed thanks to his teacher in the public school he attended berating and belittling him in front of the class when he couldn't keep up. I have since started homeschooling him using this book and he is doing very well.

Good book with false advertising.

This is a well done book that is easy to begin using once you open it. It has reviews, exercises, and an answer key at the end. The problem is that this book is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a middle/high school book. This is elementary. Most of the book involves learning to add/subtract-multiplication/division, and by the end of the book you'll learn a little bit of geometry with right angles and knowing what the difference is between a square and a rectangle.
Buy this book for your kids to give them a headstart into elementary. If you've already passed elementary, you don't have any need for this unless you have very bad memory, in which case learning math wouldn't be your forte to begin with.
