A must have for vet school

This book was not recommended to me for vet school, but a friend of mine had it and after looking through it I bought one for myself. It has proved to be money well spent as it has helped me through a number of courses including anatomy, radiology, ultrasonography and surgery. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in vet school!

The best book on the topic my Vet has ever seen.

I am an artist and purchsed this to obtain a more thorough understanding of dog and cat anatomy. One of my best friends has been a veterinarian for over 30 years. The day after I got it in I saw him at his clinic. When he saw it he stopped what he was doing for about ten minutes to look through it. He NEVER does that. He said that it was the best book he has ever seen on the topic. Needless to say, I gave it to him.

I know where to go when I want to see it.

The Best Vet Atlas!

I am a pre-veterinary student. This book is great for having clear acurate images. They are much more helpful than drawings or black and white photos of other text books. Plus, they incorporate radiographs and ultrasound throughout. However, there is no text or information about anatomy as in other books, so don't expect that. This is purely for the pictures!

Stimulating and honest read from the perspective of a client, architect, or designer

This book is a refreshing change from the monotonous texts we are all forced to read as students training to become an architect. Though the book has a tendency to be very opinionated in parts, I think it really applies to the concepts that apply to any art form that deals with a client. Specifically, how to deal with a "disconnected client".
I find it not only to be a brutally honest book, but also an inspiring one. What really caught my attention in the bookstore was the name of the book-- and as I flipped through it, it was apparent to me that it is not only useful for inspiration, but also confidence.
Must read for any future designer!

Three soldiers came marching down the road towards a French village. The peasants seeing them coming, suddenly became very busy, for soldiers are often hungry. So all the food was hidden under mattresses or in barns. There followed a battle of wits, with the soldiers equal to the occasion. Stone soup? Why, of course, they could make a wonderful soup of stones...but, of course, one must add a carrot or two...some meat...so it went. Marcia Brown has made of this old tale a very gay book, a carnival of activity, of dancing and laughter. So much goes on in the pictures that children who have once heard the story will turn to them again and again, retelling the story for themselves. A French version of the story is available under the title Une Drole de Soupe.END

The kindest con

It's funny how a single story changes with the telling. These days the classic tale of how to make stone soup has been told in a myriad of different tellings and versions. But if you harken back a little to Marci Brown's 1947 concoction, you see clearly that the story can be a little more sardonic than its alternate versions. In this tale, villagers are tricked out of their greed and fear into sharing and enjoying life with their neighbors. And it's all thanks to a soup that doesn't even exist.
Three soldiers make their way home from an unnamed war in an unnamed country. Passing a village, the men ask the townspeople for some food and warm beds. Unsurprisingly, the peasants (who, one presumes, have been violently scared into this state of distrust through years of misuse at the hands of soldiers such as these) feign a lack of food or room for the men. Thinking on their feet, the soldiers proclaim that there is nothing for it then but to make stone soup. The astonished town watches and aids the men in their task, providing them with a huge soup cauldron, water, and whatever ingredients the soldiers casually mention. By the end of the evening everyone sits down to a hearty meal and after a good night of carousing the men are given the best beds in town. "And fancy, made from stones!"

The soldiers in this tale are jovial fellows, just as comfortable fooling foolish peasants into acts of selflessness as they are dancing with pretty maids and drinking. That so much joy can come simply from sharing with your fellow man is a moral insinuated from the tale, rather than explicitly spelled out to the reader. Brown's accompanying illustrations encompass roughly four colors; red, black, white, and grey. Though a subtle palette, the figures readily express all the emotions, fears, and energy of the people and their soldier guests. I was charmed by the final throwaway line in the book, written below the peasants as they wave goodbye to the three men. "Such men don't grow on every bush". You could say the same for this book.

A Neolithic tale perhaps?

A favorite with all 6 children in our family. As an adult, I enjoy the possibility of a neolithic practice lurking among the threads of this tale. Stone age man heated his soup with stones from the fire tossed into the pot which brought the liquid to a boil almost immediately. . Who knows how far back this "traditional French folk tale" really goes!

I remember seeing this for the first time as a kid while watching "Captain Kangaroo". I always loved the story. It is just as I remember it.
Still very entertaining. I still love it.

Absolute Delightful Read

This the fourth and final book in this series and I am sad that it is over. Out of all four books I am not sure which would be my favorite. I loved them all.
If you are looking for a great quick read then you must read this series.
I thought that the author did a fantastic job with portraying each character.

The original book starts with Livy looking for a job. A friend tells her about a job opening but she must keep an open mind as the job is not your typical job requirements. She goes on the job interview not sure if she can meet the requirements. As she meet the boss (Hunter) something's just can't be help. Can't tell you what happens as it is quite comical. If you wish to find out more then you will just have to buy the book and I promise you won't be be disappointed.

Very good series

This book was written well, as was the entire series. Interesting romance, and very heartwarming. I never did really warm up to Hunter, but that's just me. He was a very good, yet extremely complicated character. Livy was a great character and even when she went through her "I'm nothing more than a doormat" times, she was strong, witty, and she did stand up for herself quite a few times. The romance was a roller coaster that I thought would never level out, but there is a HEA. There were several secondary characters that tried to interfere and cause chaos, and a few who were supportive, very fun, and lovable. If the author wrote another series like this one I would definitely read it.

Loved this series and this book . This was a heart warming emotion filled book as well as the whole series. I laughed, cried and wanted hubby near by. Wow Hunter was the alpha rich dominate male who called the shots and made you want more. Hunter had been crushed in his past by those he loved and had fears to overcome. Olivia was a patient but headstrong woman who broke through to him some how. Their relationship wasn't easy and they both had to work on it. Hunter is a hard man to break out of his mold some how is able to make him see not everyone you love is not out to hurt with them.

Awesome book - recommend for every J2EE programmers

This is the best Servlet/JSP book I have read - I read so many other books but no other book duplicates the coverage and depth of this book.
I passed the test using this book but I am happier about finding this little treasure. Currently, I am converting WebSphere to WebLogic application and I'm keeping this book right besides me. I'm refactoring this old legacy code and converting to the latest standard.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn servlet and JSP. It may be not for the beginners but definitely you need to have a copy of it if you are serious about servlet/JSP.

The only book needed for SCWCD

I strongly recommend this book to any SCWCD aspirant. This is the only book you need to pass the test smoothly and score admirably. The language of the book is easy to follow; the topic covers adequately the test requirement. This book was written based on Tomcat 4.0 specification. As a result, the sample code on the appendix CD couldn't work with the current Tomcat 4.1.* without minor changes. If you buy this book, you do need to download the latest sample code.... This will save you lots of troubles in learning. .... In spite of the above shortcomings, I still give this book a five star.

This is all you need...

In my opinion this is all you'll ever need to pass the SCWCD exam. I only read this book and used JWebPlus (included in the CD) and I passed the exam with flying colors. The author has a very easy and deliberate approach in explaining the critical concepts covered on the test. The layout of the book is superb and thorough as well. After reading this book, I didn't need to look at a single API or spec; I just used the Quick Study guide (in the back of the book) and then went a passed the test. Excellent job.

its a nice book. wish i had bought this earlier. it cant prepare you much for the questions asked in viva but history and examination and communication skills parts are great. its overpriced by indian standards.

John Thie, DC was president of the Touch For Health Foundation after having led the Thie Chiropractic Clinic for 35 years as a director in Pasadena, California. With degrees from USC, the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, and UCLA, he served on the faculties of many Southern California universities, where his treatment and technique gained recognition throughout the world. Despite his recent passing in 2005, Touch for Health will live forever in the hearts of his colleagues and practitioners for years to come.

Matthew Thie collaborated directly with his father since 1996, developing healing protocol, writing articles, and working with students.

An awesome book!

In my opinion, anyone wanting to improve their health naturally, without going the "drugs, side effects, more drugs, etc" route should find this book very informative. I especially liked the chapter on muscle testing. This book shows so many different ways we can improve our health and thereby our lives, and not spend a fortune doing it. Some of the benefits are noticable immediately. To me, it's not just a book...it's a crash course in understanding your body, how it works, and especially the self-repair and healing it is capable of...and so much more.

Amazing workable help for body pain relief

This technology really works. I use the data in this book daily to keep myself and my friends free from pain and able to work in comfort. I work with horses and do lots of lifting, bending ,stretching, and general physical work. I discovered this technology when I went to an Applied Kinesiology trained chiropractor who helped me a lot. He unfortunately no longer practices so I started reading books about the subject. This book is the best I have found. I do recommend the spiral bound edition of this book over the paperback. I gave my spiral bound one to a friend and ordered a new one for myself. The paperback is fine but the other had a plastic cover and was more durable. I only use the physical handlings for working with the muscles and I am not a fan of the subjective questions that are included but those can be skipped over easily. I would recommend this book to anyone who thinks they have muscle pain or weakness and wants a natural way to address it.

Great book on original printing....great book on this printing!
Like my friends new spiral bound version better....
But it is hard to justify the difference between the two on price alone....
However based on visual and tactile attributes the new spiral bound version is a gorgeous book!
I may have to have both in my library!

Hey - the answers to these questions aren't in the back of the book, so this is priceless. Sometimes the answers aren't as detailed as you might like, but it's better than downright guessing. Definitely worth buying if you have to do a lot of the black excercises in the book.

I'm using Chemistry :The Central Science 9th edition Textbook. This answer book is 8th edition..The problems are not the same, therefore the solutions do not match up.
Otherwise, if I was using the 8th edition textbook, this book is definitely helpful.

Adding something new to advertising.

This book is written by two authors who are both involved with SapientNitro and its strategic vision. Darren McColl is also listed as an author; his position with SapientNitro is to help business grow by bringing "insight to strategy, and inspiration to creativity". This book explains how this concept grew wings at an event in London titled "Storytelling in the Digital Age" in 2012. Twitter, Google, and Facebook were all prominently represented as the PR world tries to reinvent itself: A press release alone just doesn't work anymore.

The first chapter is entitled "Great storytelling alone won't save your business", and emphasizes the "fast, cheap, and good" rule. You have to pick two of the three: You can't have it all. However, if you focus on the triad of value, story, and experience, you can have all three. For example, the owner of a pizza company can tell a story about how he or she "discovered" the secret sauce recipe at age 12, or something similar. An example would be the American Girl franchise success: A publisher of educational materials came up with the idea of teaching about American History by using 3 18-inch dolls, each from a different historical period. These dolls all came with historically accurate storybooks detailing their life. By the time Mattel bought the company in 1995, there were more than 50 dolls, with stories from all over the world in almost every ethnicity. Every little girl could find a doll that would mirror her own story in some way. Now there are American Girl restaurants and salons. This concept works!

Have you ever predicted what might happen next in a story? Stories have a plot, settings, and characters, and narrative. Everybody has a story, as does every gadget that's invented. Tell the story behind the item; how it was created, what was the "special sauce" as it were. Stories sell: Ads may or may not.

Good But Repetitive

Some really intriguing and provocative ideas here. Highly readable, but for the professional with a decade or more experience under his or her belt, a bit repetitive. Half as long would have been just as informative.

This is a solid work, based on not theory, but experience, on how to craft strategies that put the customer front and center in a company's strategy. It offers an approachable way to determine what our customers what, how they need to connect to a brand, and what the brand needs to deliver, particularly in a digital world.

I highly recommend this to any marketeer, branding executive, or executive technologist who is looking for how to craft strategies to connect to customers through storytelling and in a digital world.
