blackhawk in illinois

i was very interesred in reading this book when i heard about it since i had grown up in illinois hearing the stories of blackhawk.one of best memories was going and seeing the blackhawk statue outside of rock island illinois overlooking the rock river.
when reading the book,it was very interesting reading about the circunstances that caused blackhawk to fight the goverment and brings you to understand what the indian was up against in that time.the introduction was very interesting as it prepared you for the true story of the indian life style in that time period.i am sure this is a classic that should be shared in our school system.

There are few accounts of the Sauk and Fox tribes, so it was a real pleasure to find Black Sparrow Hawk's story available on Kindle. This is one to read and re-read for it opens up the life of the Native Americans, illuminating so much of our Manifest Destiny as viewed by the people we displaced. He was a remarkable man, leader and hero.

Mark Chang is vice president of biometrics at AMAG Pharmaceuticals and an adjunct professor at Boston University. Dr. Chang is a co-founder of the International Society for Biopharmaceutical Statistics and an elected fellow of the American Statistical Association. He serves on the editorial boards of several statistical journals and has published five books on biostatistics and clinical trial designs.

The Ultimate Revenge

Basically, this book is very positive and constructive, straight-to-the-point, practical, amusingly mind-opening, mercilessly challenging some deeply-rooted stereotypes, and evoking many really useful tips for everyone's daily life.
In the mean time, its style is quite delightful and yet so "beefy".
Personally, I believe that only a person who has been through all the tests and difficulties of this present-day existence, including human dramas and complete changes of heart, could give such wise, intelligent and original advice to others.
So far, my relatively objective impression from James as an author has been excellent. In fact, you may check that up for yourselves as well!

They are not funny - certainly not in an intelligent or witty or humorous way - and whether or not they are of any practical use, one could argue about. Cheryl Hamilton, an author well known for her writing style and award-winning teaching, understands the importance of communication as a lifelong skill. Also the author of COMMUNICATING FOR RESULTS, she has conducted a number of research studies, including one published in the COMMUNITY COLLEGE JOURNAL OF RESEARCH AND PRACTICE. Dr. Hamilton has presented more than 32 papers at professional conventions, including those sponsored by the National Communication Association, Southwest Educational Research Association, Western Communication Association, and Texas Speech Communication Association. She has conducted seminars for groups such as the National Property Management Association, Bell Helicopter Textron, U.S. Postal Department, North Central Regional Police Academy, and LTV Aerospace. A native of Illinois, she received her bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University; her master's degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana; and her doctoral degree from the University of North Texas in Denton.

is probably the most useless form of academic material on planet Earth

This book, is probably the most useless form of academic material on planet Earth. The fact that a rain forest was chopped down so that the words "small-group communication: involves a small number of people, usually engaged in face-to-face interaction, actively working together toward a common goal" could be written on the pages is the most horrific use of natural resources ever devised (Hamilton, 262). [yeah check out that APA format so you know its real.] When you are forced to purchase this garbage for your college course (because there is no other reason on the face of the planet that you would need to/or should read this blathering that a grade school english teacher could write in one night with 2 bottles of wine in her) let me sum up every single chapter for you in one sentence so that you don't blow $80 in your university bookstore... There are a lot of ways to communicate with someone: your words, the way you dress, your body language - make sure that you have basic understanding of social interactions and have some understanding that there are different cultures, and that sometimes the middle finger to someone means "hello, i love you". The end, Cheryl Hamilton i want my money.

Not a hard book to read. Just common sense.

There is a lot of useful information in this book on how to effectively communicate, but honestly, some of the information seemed like common sense for me. I feel cheated in having to take a course on communication for my accounting major, but the class itself wasn't hard.
Topics covered that i remember are:
1) guides to powerpoint
2) how to do well in an interview
3) different types of communication channels (face to face, email, letter, memo, etc...)
4) cultural differences: western vs eastern, individualistic vs collectivist...
5) conflict management - how to deal with conflicts in the workplace (harassment, bullying...)
6) and others...
