One of the two best screenwriting books I've ever read.

If you want a practical, "how to" book that treats the reader with respect and assumes a high level of intelligence this is it. More in depth than other screenwriting books on the market. The other book of quality I would look at is "The Writer's Journey" by Vogler.

but there's better books with MUCH more useful information out there

it's okay, but there's better books with MUCH more useful information out there. Heck, most of what's in this book can easily be found for free online. If i were you, i'd look there first. I made the mistake of thinking there'd be something in the book that wasn't already online, and there isn't. Still glad i bought the book though, if only to support the author for his time and effort :-)

A hidden gem.

A hidden gem. Not much theory, just powerful workhorse tools. One technique, the vec or visualized emotional cue, is basically THE technique for creating subtext in a screenplay- youll see it all over professional scripts, and this is the only book ive read that explains it- its worth the price of the whole book.
